How You Can Participate

If you are like most risk and safety professionals you probably have little time to gather the latest safety related information you need to do your job. As a member of the NFSI you can now access the information you need to address your slip and fall prevention needs. The NFSI database offers a wealth of up-to-date information.

Please note that by becoming a member of NFSI you are not automatically
a member of the ANSI B101 committee as they are two separate entities.

Since we have taken our first steps in life we all have personal experience with falling and as we age slips and falls become an even more alarming problem. It is estimated that the annual cost of slip and fall accidents tops $100 billion dollars a year not to mention immeasurable pain and suffering, most of which affects our nations elderly. Ask any elderly person about their fears and most will describe their fear of injury from a fall.

According to the National Safety Council (NSC) falls are the leading cause of accidental death for people age 85 and older and the U.S. Census Bureau reports that this age group is expected to double with the next decade and in-turn, dramatically increase the number of slip and fall accidents.

The NFSI is committed to improving pedestrian safety and in-turn reduce the current trend of slip and fall accidents. As a not-for-profit corporation, the NFSI has been recognized by the IRS as a charitable organization under IRS code 501(c)-3 making your $500 or more donation tax deductible. Your contribution will go towards funding our very important research which will make the world a safer place.

The old adage of "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" has never had more meaning, and in the spirit of accident prevention, we ask for your help. On behalf of the board of directors of the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) you are cordially invited to participate as a corporate sponsor. Without your support we can not accomplish our goals. Show that you care by making your contribution today. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Russell J. Kendzior
